Prof. Thomas Grunwald

The challenge of medically intractable epilepsy

About speaker:

Prof. Thomas Gruwald is a neurologist specializing in epileptology and clinical neurophysiology and especially in presurgical evaluations for epilepsy surgery at the Swiss Epilepsy Centre in Zurich.
Thomas reminds us that epilepsy is in fact a very prevalent disease and that it is normally relatively easy to treat. However, about one third of all patients do not become seizure free by medical drugs.
Thomas discusses the various types of seizures and the number of people that die from epilepsy related causes.
