After two days of in-depth presentations, lively panel discussions and groundbreaking exhibitions, The Brain Forum 2016 closed on Friday. With more than 1’400 visitors, this year’s edition has increased its attendance by a whopping 40% compared to last year.

The Brain Forum 2016 opened today and is generating massive interest among specialists as well as the general public: more than 1000 people have registered. Over the next two days, researchers, engineers, healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs, industrialists, investors, funding agencies and policy makers will meet at the SwissTech Convention Center in Lausanne (Switzerland) and contribute to translating brain science into tangible, accessible solutions.

W Science Laboratories are working with EPFL’s Center for Neuroprosthetics and the Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience to develop the world’s first Reality Substitution Machine (RealiSM). This technology will complete the illusion of virtual reality by establishing one’s sense of embodiment in virtual worlds, breaking down the perceived boundaries between one’s physical environment and one’s experienced environment.

With their innovative ideas, start-up companies play an important role in finding creative solutions for scientific challenges. The Brain Forum Innovation Award, supported by A3 Angels, has been created to reward the best new project in the field of brain research. On 26 May a selected number of start‑ups will give a public presentation in front of decision-makers from business, politics, healthcare, science, technology and the media.

The Sonic Womb Orrb seeks to re-create the experience of hearing in utero in order to promote understanding of acoustic stress in premature infants. Like many other established and startup businesses, this innovative interdisciplinary project will be unveiled during the industry exhibition held throughout The Brain Forum 2016 on 26 and 27 May in Lausanne, Switzerland.

British television broadcaster, Natasha Kaplinsky, will facilitate The Brain Forum 2016 taking place in Lausanne, Switzerland on 26 and 27 May 2016.

After Beijing, Brussels, San Francisco, Sao Paulo, Shanghai and Vienna, Prof. Thomas Grunwald, a neurologist and epileptologist at the Swiss Epilepsy Centre in Zurich, and Prof. Anton Rey, a dramaturge and artistic researcher from Zurich University of the Arts, will conduct their lecture-performance “Act like you mean it” on 26 May at The Brain Forum 2016.

In exactly four weeks, leaders in brain science and finance will convene at the third conference of The Brain Forum, on 26 and 27 May in Lausanne, Switzerland. The Brain Forum is divided into two themed days with the first day dedicated to Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and the second day focused on Science.

For the third time, The Brain Forum will bring together top scientists, and entrepreneurs from the world’s biggest “brain initiatives”. The event will run in collaboration with EPFL from May 26th to May 27th at the SwissTech Convention Center in Lausanne, Switzerland.
